Southern hemisphere suppliers include the New Zealand fisheries. Situated in the southern Pacific Ocean, New Zealand has one of the world's largest exclusive economic fishing zones covering 1.2 million square nautical miles with some of the cleanest fishing waters in the world. The region supplies Hoki, Hake, Orange Roughy, Ling, Squid, Green shell mussels and Scallops to markets throughout Europe.
Swallow Foods handle the full range of seafood products from this region. Hoki fillets, both in industrial block and shatter pack form, are imported to Europe for use in the manufacture of added value items and
ready meals.
Products are sold on both foward and on a spot basis. Swallow Foods normally have stock for immediate sale on Hoki products, both in France and the UK.
The expanding world trade in fish and seafood products, together with the World Bank forecast that aquaculture production will need to double by the year 2010 merely to sustain the global per capita consumption of fish protein, will ensure Swallow Foods remain in the forefront of this dynamic industry.
